Name Change Controversy, Free Agent Acquisitions, and More

Controversy has shaken the league as the captain of the Churchtown Alans, Alan Krock, had issued a name change to the Caernarvon Cardinals on Thursday, April 28th.  The reasoning behind the move is due to there being "only one Alan" and "We have a stadium in Churchtown where Caernarvon Elementary used to be."

The commissioners and other captains have become quite enraged at the conceptualization of this name.  "This is preposterous," said Josiah Smucker.  "I was looking forward to playing the (Alans).  Just pissed a whole fanbase off by changing like that," said the East Earl tribe chief Stephen Foor.  "Gotta keep the A's," said commissioner Josiah Martin.  The other commissioner Alex McFalls also had some words to say, "If it wasn't for the A's. there would be no ELW."  The most dramatic quote came from none other than the Intercouse captain Christian Merk, "What the hell are those (explicit) (explicit) doing, their (explicit) team is so (explicit word for bad) that the least they could (explicit) do is keep their (great) name."

The fans of the Alans have expressed their anger and disappointment on Twitter.  Here are some tweets listed below.

The frustration of the fanbase is clear and understood by the league.  Because of this, no changes have been made and the name change is currently being put off by the league.  The Churchtown Alans are here to stay for now.

In other news.  The Josiah Smucker group had named their team the New Holland Angels, but have decided to change to the Conestoga Twins.  They will enter in as the opposing New Holland League team to the Intercourse Orioles.

Free Agent News

Derrick Lambert, who had originally been given to the Churchtown Alans, had entered free agency due to the Alan Krock's lack of communication with Lambert.  He ended up being signed by the East Earl Indians.  Tyler Murphy was claimed by the Twins, and Justin Smucker was placed on the Churchtown roster.  Welcome Derrick, Tyler, and Justin to the League.
