League News

Intercourse Orioles have been established.  Alex McFalls, Justin McFalls, Christian Merk, and Preston Merk will be the core four for the O's.  Joel McFalls was picked up as their fifth.  The Churchtown Alans have Will Culbert, Alan Krock, and Finn Wenrich.  They await a final answer from Gavin Reimers and have not yet selected a fifth.  The East Earl Indians whole roster has been established.  Dylan Esbenshade, Stephen Foor, Conner Murray, and Nate Vreeland will be the four for the Indians with star player Josiah Martin being claimed as their fifth (currently on IL and will not return until at least July).  Team 2 has not yet named their team, the only definites are Josiah Smucker and Thomas Watt.  They have done an absolutely piss poor job of setting up their team and the commissioner hopes they go 0-12.

Notes on Spring Training 1

The matchup was Alex McFalls, Justin McFalls, Christian Merk, and Preston Merk vs. Aaron Hershey, Alan Krock, Conner Murray, and Thomas Watt.  Offensively, everyone had at least 20 at bats.  Alex only got out twice and had 2 hits off the wall.  Justin McFalls continued his reputation of high OBP as he lead the game in walks and reached on countless infield singles.  Preston Merk showed solid presence in the box, although lack of speed lead to many throw outs at first despite mistakes and errors.  Christian Merk struck out often, but had a decent amount of walks and HBP and was able to reach on a few infield singles.  The story for the Thomas Watt team offensively was defensive errors from Christian Merk.  Christian dropped a dozen of perfect throws to first, leading the bases to constantly get loaded and throwing dirt on what was a great performance on the mound by Justin.  Conner and Aaron were either strike outs or infield singles.  Thomas had a couple decent shots through the gaps, and Alan got on base nearly every time.  Defensively the Thomas team played poorly.  They could not field grounders well, and the pitching staff got absolutely blown out.  Thomas Watt had trouble finding the strike zone.  The Justin team won 44-17.  Justin had a substantial amount of strikeouts, was able to give his defense easy groundballs to field, and showed some stellar reactions to comebackers and ground balls hit straight to the mound.  Christian Merk was the dud of the game with too many drops defensively and not enough output on offense.  It's early, and it is only spring training, but good start so far with a little slop that needs to be cleaned up.
