The 2024 season is almost here, but things have changed. With the field at the legion being torn down and some revised rule changes for competitive matters, there will just be ONE 5-game series between two big teams for the ELW championship.
Here's the info:
ELW Summer Series
Two teams will be drafted and adjusted. 5 game series will be played throughout the summer to determine the champion.
Team 1 Captain: Alex McFalls
Team 2 Captain: Josiah Smucker
Phase 1 Draft: May 5, 2024
Free Agency: May 6, 2024
Game 1: May 19, 2024
Rules/Gameplay:
-Played on a normal sized little league field. 6v6. A pitcher, catcher, and 4 infielders.
-Pitcher throws to batter. 3 swings and misses or fouls and you’re out. No balls, make contact with the ball.
-There is baserunning, no leads or steals. Runners can attempt to advance if wild pitch is thrown or catcher loses the ball.
-All fielders must stay positioned in the infield until ball is hit. If a ball is hit hard and lands in the outfield grass without being caught, it is ruled a homer. Note that fielders can run out to the grass area after ball is hit and can “rob” the homer. They cannot be positioned in the outfield though.
-There will be a first base umpire to determine if runners are safe or out, check swings, etc.
DRAFT
The Intercourse Orioles and Conestoga Twins will be the two franchises to play. Churchtown and East Earl will be inactive for this year. Decisions will be made next league year on whether or not those two teams disband or continue. Alex McFalls will take over as manager of the Orioles, rebranding to the New Holland Browns. Home games will be played at Browns Park at New Holland Elementary. Josiah Smucker rebrands Conestoga to the Honeybrook Hornets. Home games will be played at the Honeybrook Coliseum (Twin Valley Little League Field).
Josiah Smucker wanted the first pick, McFalls gets home field advantage. Games 1 and 2 will be played at Browns Park.
